OOPS...

So every Sunday whenever I go to the church I always take my pair of dress shoes and some flats. Today I took my white heels and I took a pair of white flip-flops that are starting to fall apart...or at least it seems that way, but they are comfortable. The whole reason that I take flats is because I teach Sunday School before our church service and sometime trying to keep up with those kids...well it is just better for me to be in flats. (I mean how many of you have tried to run in high-heels??) Normally after I dismiss Sunday School I run out the car, change my shoes, and then head in to the service. That's all good...it has always worked...

Except today I kinda forgot...and well...you know those ratty white flip-flops...?? Yep you got it...I was up ON THE PLATFORM playing the keyboard before I realized... I was like I can not believe this happened to me...it was like as bad as a Classic Mary Moment LOL JK!!! :D  But I seriously couldn't believe that I had left on my flip-flops. Thankfully I am a MK to Honduras and...well...nobody was really paying attention! I wasn't really TOO worried about it...I just couldn't believe I had forgotten! It was pretty funny though!!!!! :D

What we do in the dash...

In the March 2010 issue of Reader's Digest I found a article about a Navy Chaplain named Terry Roberts. I was kinda speed-reading-just-skipping-over-a-lot-of-it when I got to the last paragraph and was struck by what he said: "At memorial services I that each gravestone has a few things on it: a date of birth, a dash, and a date of death. Well, that dash is our life. We don't know how long or short it's going to be, whether we'll live to 91 or 21. But it's what we do with the dash that really matters."

As I considered that I realize just what that really means. It isn't the day that we are born, or the day that we die, that really matters. It's what we do in that dash that counts. People may never hear about it, you might not do something that changes the world, but it is what we do in the dash that really counts. Even if it forever remains the dash on your gravestone...it has got to count to us and to our family and friends. Most of all it needs to count to God!

Wow...

Wow...I don't know why I have been so non-post...ic (sp?)!! LOL I normally am thinking things up left and right to talk about, but well I guess I just haven't been my normal talkative self!

I am excited about our new YOUTH GROUP!!! Yes, for those of you that all your life have had a youth group in your church, and for some of you the majority of your life has spent there...we have NEVER had a youth group before. Well...I guess I can't say never...we did at one point have a youth group and we were having meetings but my Dad was in charge and once you have soo much to do, some things just have to go...  I am not blaming my Dad for anything, so please don't get me wrong. We were just too busy back then. Thankfully a young man in our church has offered himself to become our youth leader, so we are re-organizing. Thank you Jesus!!! We have lots of PLANS and IDEAS...but we are trying to raise the youth funds first! LOL Since we are finding out there is not a lot you can do with the money that is in the account! But we are excited!! Please keep our young people in your prayers. Young people around the world need your prayers, and we are definitely NO exception! God has been good, though, and he has allowed us to come this far, so that has got to mean SOMETHING!!

I may a little sporadic with my blogging in the upcoming weeks...but I will continue to keep on trying!!

Until next time~Allana

I just wanted to congrat my good friend on her new JOB!!! (You finally did it!) JK Congratulations to you, Mary, for becoming Apsotolic News' newest reporter!!! I am very excited for you, and I KNOW that you are excited too!

For some time I have been wanting to start a Apostolic Youth newsletter type thing. Just have different people write different articles and/or essays...add some jokes...add some fun...and well send it out. I still haven't acted on it and don't know if I will...but it almost feels like that dream is closer because you got this spot!! LOL Don't ask me why...but...  Anyways!! A big: Congratulations to you on this!!!! I hope that God will use you...and if your writing EVER becomes boring I will forever cease to read anything that you have written! In other words...MAKE ME LAUGH!!!

AAH!!!

AAHHHHH...I am getting old! MY brothers and sisters are growing up and well...it is making me feel REALLY old! Nathaniel is going to pass me soon (as in height) and I'm still not sure if that is going to settle well! LOL But it has to happen sometime! (I don't understand why guys have to be taller than girls, but I don't think that I would want a husband shorter than me so...it actually does make a TON of sense!) Here in Honduras there is like NO young men that pass me up. It is just a little uncomfortable sometimes to be looking DOWN at them. That is a little backwards...but that is not what we were talking about.... So I am really feeling like an old maid. (Not really, I mean I am only ____ years old) But I can feel myself...well...growing up I guess! I have no idea what I am saying but is sounds good so... :D Anyways...enough ramblings for one day....

'Til later - Allana

My "funniest" prank ever!!

Well amazingly I didn't do anything for April Fool's Day! (Maybe the spirit of Kaniel finally died out) :D...I don't know! It is hard to believe though that I didn't do anything! So I know it is late and I know that I didn't do anything (Man, I sure am repeating myself) but I can make up for that...

So I am not the best prank-puller...that is certain, but I have been known to pull a few in my life. One of the "funniest" ones was when...oh man...do I really want to tell this one?? Ok...

I was at my grandparents house in OK. Now before I tell you this story, you have to understand that my Mom comes from a looooooong line of pranksters. It has been in the family for years. My grandma is one of the worst that I have ever known for pulling pranks, and well...I wouldn't like to be on her bad side (which I probably will be on once I get done with this post...oh well...the price for freedom of speech I guess). So it was April the 1st which means we have GOT to do something! Well since it was just me staying with my grandparents, and since I was in cahoots with Mawdy (a.k.a. my grandma) that left Pawdy (a.k.a. my grandpa) as the only culprit. Poor guy!! HAHA so I was coming up with little things like: fill his beef jerky sticks can with pencils, and put salt or...something...in his drinks, Mawdy was thinking on the bigger scale. I don't remember what all she thought of, and I am not sure who actually came up with the basic idea, but suddenly...me...no...Mawdy...uh...WE...came up with a grand idea!! We would go to the breaker box (while Pawdy was in the shower) and turn off ALL the lights.

So you have to understand that my grandparents house is pretty old, and it has old wooden floors (which I love) but I don't think that there is one spot that DOESN'T squeak! Pawdy is also a big man, he isn't fat (honestly) but he is just tall and muscular! So we wait 'til we hear him get out of the bathtub (on the LOUD wooden floors) and when we are sure that he is out. We head into the closet and flip off the breakers. For all of you kids that like to do RETARDED stuff...I know this sounds fun but NEVER TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!! Many things happen:

1. Pawdy will start to holler move around a lot.
2. Then the doorknob will be moved around a lot until the door FINALLY comes open.
3. He will then continue to repeat, "Turn the lights back on" (Only because he hears us trying to stop laughing).
4. Oh and then you will probably try to turn the lights back on then, and you won't be able to find the right switch. LOL
5. One last thing you will completely mess up the computer which make Pawdy even more aggervated then he already is!

So that was my "funniest" prank ever (which actually wasn't that funny to the "victims")! Oh, and, yes, we did mess up the computer although thankfully today is still working!! (I guess they fixed it) :D

"Squaring off" the house!!! HAHA

LOL...I had the funniest experience yesterday! :D My Dad took Me, Nathaniel, and Josiah to our property. At the property there is creek that runs along the back. Every time it rains...it washes sand  (good, expensive sand) down from somewhere up the creek and we always shovel it out. So when we got there...but dives straight for the creek and starts digging. Josiah started doing "whatever". So I was waiting for Dad to tell me what he wanted me to do. Finally he told me to come help him, I said ok. He told me we were going to "square off" or "square in" the house. Which just means that we were like putting stakes and and tying cord to them to get the lines of the house...or something like that. HAHA!!! The only problem was that I think we "octogonaled off the house"!!!

It started out good...he put the main stick down, and told me to butt the tape measure up against the post. I did! Dad put down that stake and we repeated this process to two other times and now had three stake up. Dad decided he would re-measure everything to make sure we had it right so far. LOL This was when the fun began!!! We started to re-measure...and the first one went ok. The second had to be moved but only 1/4 of an inch. LOL By the time we got to the 3rd stake it seemed like we were like 4 inches off. We repeated THIS process several times, and much to my amusement Dad started muttering to himself. He would mutter something and then he would say to me...ok go back to this other stake and will measure __________. So I would go back and he would mutter some more....then he would move the stake a little...double check it and say...ok come back over to this one. He would measure that one and then he would have to move IT a little bit. Then he had me got back to the first one and repeat the process...all the while muttering!!! IT was TOOOO funny! Finally he said, "Man, these stakes seem to be moving themselves", then he got up and went and shoveled sand!! It was sooooo funny! So in the end ...we did...nothing...haha...but it was sure funny doing it! Hopefully it will a little better today...he has some men helping him...men that know how to construct house....or at least "square it off"!!

Dad's surprise birthday party...in Tocoa!

Last Sunday was Dad's b-day and the church in Tocoa decided to throw him a surprise b-day party! It was also a combination Father's Day party, because FD here in Honduras was last week. All the fathers got to participate in the games, and there was loads of laughter. They played pin the tail on th donkey,
(this picture is shown without the tail).
They also played pass the bundle. This is a game in which the participants sit in a circle and as music is played (or people sing) the bundle (usually several bags wrapped up together) is passed from player to player until the music stops. The player is than (normally) asked to do some kind of action or do something strange or funny, and then the game continues. They however let the person decide what they wanted to do...this lead to...I am not sure what it led too! :D It lead to the following...URGG...I had the funniest video clip of one of the participants! But I guess I will have to post it separately. I will let you know where and when I post it...until then...

Family pics!! *covers eyes*

I don't know how this pictures came out...but these were the "good" ones!! Enjoy...and tell me what you think!

Savor the moments...

Wow! How time flies. Too many things have happened in my life, and in the most important part of each moment, I want sit an savor the feelings. But, life keeps moving on and I have to go with it. I come upon the next moment in time, but there is hardly even time to experience this one...much less savor it. So I go on, again. But there is one time in my busy life, full of "moments", that time literally stands still. It's in the presence of the Lord. There I can let the cares of this world fall away and just SAVOR the moment or momentS!!! It doesn't matter if another "moment" wants to come along. It doesn't matter if there is something else to do...because all schedule and to-do list fall to one side. Right now, its just me and God!!...and that is enough! I don't need anything else to fill my time. I am not looking for other time-consuming projects. Right now I am with God, and that is enough!!!

What about you? How many times do you let the cares of this world, or things like to-do lists and schedules, take up the time that we should be spending with God? We try to uselessly to savor moments of temporary happiness. We grab at moments is time when we feel good, and try to treasure those as lasting memories, but there is only one place where you can find true happiness. There is only one place where true happiness is achieved. It's...in the presence of the Lord! Stop, take a moment, and just ENJOY God!!

Well...that is my important statement for the day! LOL Most of ya'll probably didn't even understand. But at least try...

Normal??

What does normal mean…because it seems that is what my life is going BACK to! LOL I am not even sure what I am saying… No, I am sure...I am just not sure how to say it! It has been a long time since our life has been "normal" (or according to my Mom: Without visitors :D). What was "abnormal" has become normal in my life…  Now everybody is gone and life has returned to "normality". Yet, as I sit here and reflect I realize I miss "abnormal", because it has become the standard. What once was a burden and drudgery has now become day-to-day! (Don't get me wrong, I love visitors! Our whole family does.) I have learned a lot in these last couple of months. While Mom has been on bedrest and I have been trying to keep the world from falling apart (literally), I have learned some life lessons that I will never forget.  Below are some of the things that I learned:

1.    1.   Don't give up on God!

2.     2.  Your road may seem long, and like it is never going to end. But…God will work it out. One day it will be over, and you will be left bored because of the lack of activity in your life (like me ;D).

3.    3.   Life's problems aren't as big as they look and can be mastered with patience.

4.   4.    Oh and last but most definitely NOT LEAST…don't ever take in 20 year old boys…especially when your Mom is on bed rest and YOU are TRYING to keep things under control.

Ok, guys, I know it has been half of forever since I have written on here...but I have been very busy!! But I am going to post a post on here soon!

Becoming a girl again...

Well I am actually ALWAYS a girl....because I am DEFINITELY a boy! But I am became a LITTLE girl again yesterday! I decided since the kids were getting a little antsy and it was REALLY hot, and since I didn't have anything I really needed to be doing (Besides translating my lesson for tomorrow)...that we would set up a "water park" for the kids. (We being me and my friend that lives across the street.) We were going to do it across the street at her house. (Since they have this ginormous patio), we were starting to set up when for reasons I can't go into...their maid (and I don't say that disrespectfully) decided that she didn't want us making a mess. So after a looooong drawn out ordeal (which included calling her Mom) we moved to our muddy, small backyard. We took a tarp, and dishsoap and...well the rest I will leave to your imagination. (Just don't forget the mud :D)

Getting to know our neighbors.

We recently made a trip out to the property that we just recently bought. While we were there I got to know one of the neightbor ladies that lives right behind us. I took her some food. I touched her (Don't ask). I made a new friend, basically. She doesn't speak Spanish, or English, so me and Mawdy (my grandma) just gave her a name ourselves: Molly! Now before you ask any questions...just scroll down!

Update on the WW III

No fatalities! (whew) When it started out I don't know who was on who's side...when all the dust settled...it was boys against girls. There were no fatalities...but there were many injuries (or at least injured pride). I ended up not taking any more pics, unfortunately. The results were interesting:

Girls to guys:
Rubbing butter on their deodorant
Spraying Kaniel's toothbrush with hairspray (six times)
Sewing pockets and sleeves

Planned but foiled:
Freezing marbles and putting them in their bed
Cutting their toenails for a going away card (inside joke, right Kaniel?)

Boys to girls:
Spreading butter from deodorant on pillowcases
Spraying EVERYBODY's toothbrushes with hairspray (And, if you were wondering...YES I am out of hairspray)
Spraying room with cologne
Filling MY hairbrush with diaper rash ointment and hairspray (Remember, I am innocent in all of this :D)

Thankfully there was nothing permanent!! LOL Anyways...
